Hveits

Naming and visual identity for Hveits Jewelry Studio. Hveits jewelry is inspired by the owners’s fictional writings on humans, animals, space, magic and beyond. Hveits means white in Gothic language. White as the combination of all colors and, at the same time, the absence of them. White for the space, white for the silver. The logotype was created based on the Gothic letter “Hwair” or ƕ - expressing the [hʷ] or [ʍ] sound (reflected in English by the inverted wh-spelling for [ʍ]). A new ligature was designed based on blackletter type creating a contemporary representation of the ancient letter.
